"Will this shrink the first time I wash it? Will the camouflage print crack and peel after a few washes? Is the fabric actually good quality, or will it look worn out in a month?"

These are the most common questions we get about our clothing collection — and they deserve honest, detailed answers. Here's everything you need to know about the fabrics we use and how to make your tactical clothing last.

The Fabrics in Our Clothing Collection — What They Actually Are

We use three main fabric types across our tactical t-shirts and combat shirts:

1. Heavy Cotton (96% Cotton + 4% Stretch / Lycra)

Used in our Camouflage Yodha Print T-Shirts and similar camo tees.

• Feel: Thick, sturdy, substantial weight
• Best for: Outdoor use, wildlife expeditions, NCC camps, cool-weather wear
• Shrinkage risk: Moderate on first wash if washed in hot water. Cold water wash = no shrinkage.
• Print durability: Our camo prints are reactive-dyed (colour goes into the fabric, not just on top), so fading is slow and gradual with proper care
• Pro tip: Turn inside out before washing to protect the print

2. Quick-Dry / Dry Cool Polyester Blend

Used in our Tactical Zip T-Shirts, Paratrooper Dry Cool Tees, and performance combat shirts.

• Feel: Lightweight, smooth, slightly silky
• Best for: Intense physical activity, summer use, trekking, PT sessions
• Shrinkage risk: Very low — polyester blends are naturally resistant to shrinkage
• Print durability: Sublimation-printed graphics are extremely durable; they won't crack or peel
• Pro tip: Air dry — tumble drying on high heat can affect the moisture-wicking coating over time

3. Lycra / Stretchable Poly-Cotton

Used in our Light Olive Green Lycra Polo T-Shirts and stretch combat shirts.

• Feel: Soft, body-hugging, excellent movement range
• Best for: Training, gym, close-fit outdoor use
• Shrinkage risk: Low — lycra/spandex blends hold their shape well
• Print durability: Solid colours don't fade significantly; avoid bleach
• Pro tip: Do not wring — lay flat or hang to dry to maintain shape

Will Camouflage Prints Fade?

Yes — eventually. All printed clothing fades over time. The question is: how fast?

Our camouflage prints are designed for durability, but how you wash them makes a huge difference:

✅ Cold water wash = colour stays vibrant for 50+ washes
✅ Inside-out washing = print surface protected from abrasion
✅ Mild detergent = no chemical damage to dye
✅ Shade drying = no UV fading

❌ Hot water = accelerates fading significantly
❌ Direct sunlight drying = bleaches colours over time
❌ Bleach = destroys the dye and weakens fabric fibres
❌ Fabric softeners = coats fabric and reduces breathability in performance tees

The Complete Wash Guide for Adventure Hut Clothing

For Cotton Camo T-Shirts (Heavy Cotton):

1. Turn inside out
2. Machine wash cold, gentle cycle
3. Use mild detergent — no bleach
4. Tumble dry low OR hang dry in shade
5. Iron inside out on medium heat only if needed

For Quick-Dry / Dry Cool Performance Shirts:

1. Machine wash cold
2. Mild liquid detergent (avoid powder — can leave residue in performance fabric)
3. Do not tumble dry on high heat — air dry always preferred
4. No ironing needed — performance fabric is naturally smooth
5. Do not dry clean

For Lycra / Stretch Polo T-Shirts:

1. Hand wash or machine wash on delicate cycle, cold water
2. Do not wring or twist
3. Lay flat to dry or hang on padded hanger
4. Keep away from direct heat

For Combat Shirts with Velcro / Zippers / Pockets:

1. Close all zippers and fasten all Velcro before washing — open Velcro will latch onto fabric and cause pilling
2. Empty all pockets
3. Turn inside out
4. Cold wash, gentle cycle
5. Air dry

What About the Olive Green Colour — Does It Fade Fast?

Olive green, khaki, and military brown are earth-tone dyes that are generally more stable than bright colours. They won't "bleed" dramatically in the wash.

However, washing in hot water or direct sun exposure will slowly mute the tone into a lighter, washed-out shade. If you want to keep that deep, rich olive green looking sharp:

• Always cold wash
• Dry in shade
• Wash separately from white or very light clothing for the first 2–3 washes (while excess dye is still releasing)
